Roermond in the south-eastern part of the Netherlands, close to the border with Germany is a city, a municipality and since 1559 it has served as the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Roermond.

The ‘Diocese of Roermond’ media library was created in a unique collaborative venture by the Dutch and German governments together with the Catholic Church. The Church’s records and historical documents were written in Latin, immensely valuable so requiring careful handling.

These irreplaceable records of the Diocese have now been digitised, translated from Latin into both Dutch and German and are stored as fully searchable PDF’s. With MediaFiler you may search every single word in a PDF, an immense benefit to users.

This important historical archive is now available online providing both an interesting source of research material for scholars and the public alike.
